A bukhoor blend made by Fatima, in Lahj. Fatima learned the trade from her grandmother, and has been making bukhoor for five years as a means to support herself and her family. She dreams of opening her own shop one day.
Bukhoor is the Arabic name for a blend of fragrance oils, spices, and other natural ingredients specially chosen for their scent. When burned over charcoal, it emits an aromatic smoke. For centuries bukhoor has served as an ambiance for therapy, meditation, special occasions, and welcoming guests.
